Armed Forces Leader Warns Coup Plotters in Honduras

José Jorge Fortín asserted that although it hurts some, “Xiomara Castro is a commander of the Armed Forces.”

In Honduras, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces (FFAA), José Jorge Fortín, assured this Thursday that “coups d’état, human rights violations” are in the past.

During the celebration of the 59th anniversary of the airborne infantry battalion and the graduation of 39 elements from the Tesón course, Fortín sent the message to those who were within the Armed Forces. and they intend to cause another coup attempt.

“Don’t put us in the same bag, ever, and those who want to carry out a coup do not involve the Armed Forces,” stressed the military leader.

The head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff also asserted that although it hurts some, “Xiomara Castro is the commander of the Armed Forces, the law says so.”

He also promised that, in the remaining three months of his mandate, until December 20, he will continue to promote projects for the benefit of Honduras. “There is so much to do, the Armed Forces are owed to the Honduran people, and that is why we continue working,” he explained.

“This is a clear message to future generations who must come to work, forget about those coups, generational fights, we have been really ungrateful to our Armed Forces because we have forgotten to solve important problems internally,” Fortín also recalled.
