British Intelligence Uncovered Russian Tactics During the Counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

In recent weeks, Russia has prioritized and refined tactics to slow Ukrainian armored counteroffensives in southern Ukraine.

As noted in the brief, this approach is based on Russia’s very heavy use of anti-tank mines.

According to British intelligence, in some areas the density of its minefields indicates that they probably used many more mines than their military doctrine envisaged. After slowing down the advance of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian troops then try to strike Ukrainian armored vehicles with kamikaze drones, attack helicopters and artillery.

While Russia has had some success with this approach in the early stages of Ukraine’s counter-offensive, its forces continue to suffer from key weaknesses, especially overburdening and lack of artillery ammunition.

Counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began in early June. Western media are actively reporting that it is moving slower than expected.

At the same time, the head of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said that the Ukrainian counteroffensive was difficult due to anti-personnel mines and other obstacles. However, according to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine do the right thing when they act carefully.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny said that he was annoyed by comments about the “slow” counteroffensive , since every meter is given to our defenders with blood.

As Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, said, the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will lead to the collapse of the Russian front . This can happen in a week, a month, a month and a half.
