Miss Universe Disqualifies Italy Mora of Panama

Italy Mora, Miss Panama, was disqualified just hours before the Miss Universe grand finale, set for November 16, 2024, in Mexico. The timing of her removal shocked many, as it occurred so close to the event, leaving the pageant in a state of uncertainty regarding her replacement.

The official reason for her disqualification remains unclear. However, sources like the New York Post suggest that Mora’s expulsion stemmed from an unauthorized visit to her boyfriend Juan Abadia’s hotel room in Mexico, which reportedly violated the rules of the competition.

In response, Italy Mora denied the allegations of misconduct. She explained that her disqualification resulted from a heated argument with Cesar Anel Rodriguez, the director of Miss Universe Panama. According to Mora, the dispute centered on issues related to the event’s poor organization and management.

Mora revealed that her boyfriend, Abadia, was present during the confrontation. She claims the situation escalated when he disclosed that he had financially supported her, including covering the cost of a $7,000 Carolina Herrera dress, due to the organization’s neglect in providing necessary resources.

This incident highlights deeper concerns about the handling of the Miss Universe Panama pageant and the role of its leadership in the competition’s management. Mora’s disqualification has cast a shadow on the event, sparking debates about transparency and fairness in the pageant industry.
