A meal-packing event over the weekend prepared enough food for families in Honduras to feed 170 children with one meal per day for a year.
On Saturday, 250 volunteers gathered at the Advent Lutheran Church in Boca Raton for the food preparation. Food For The Poor and Feed My Starving Children, both international non-profit organizations, partnered to send 62,208 MannaPack Rice meals to Honduran families with food insecurity, Food For the Poor spokeswoman Ernestine Williams said.
“Everyone had a wonderful time working together to help impoverished families in desperate need,” she stated.
Food For The Poor is a faith-based relief organization, offering support through secure housing, clean water, healthcare, emergency relief, micro-enterprise projects and educational opportunities to 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.
Feed My Starving Children is also a faith-based organization which packs meals for the malnourished in nearly 70 countries.
